The Myth of Price Gouging

There are many myths spread by propaganda.  From people trying to win a popularity contest or their sycophants.  A very important myth is the one of price gouging.  Believing in this will lead to more and more dangerous policies.  All it means is there is a high price and someone else thinks it’s too high, so they say they’re “gouging.”  Prices serve a highly important purpose.  That’s how resources are allocated.

Prices allocate resources to where they’re most highly needed.  However, it’s important to remember, prices are going up because money is worth less.  It’s not that goods are more expensive.  The currency has less and less value.  The more they counterfeit, the less it will be worth.  That’s why money has continually lost its purchasing power.  Prices have a tendency to fall on a free market.

Money becomes more valuable over time on a free market.  The propaganda army will say an inflation target rate.  All that means is they want prices to rise.  They want to print more money.  They’ll say this is good for you, but the exact opposite is true.  Printing money benefits the early receivers, and that isn’t you.  Don’t be fooled by the fancy jargon of the so-called experts.   The quantity of money doesn’t need to change once it’s in existence.

The price gouging myth is pushed quite a bit.  It doesn’t stop there.  It’s then repeated by the clueless masses.   So, propaganda is vertical and horizontal.  The term might flare up emotions, but its beyond ridiculous when thought about.  If lumber is more highly needed in one area than another, it’ll fetch a higher price.  A homeowner will conserve the lumber at a higher price so it can be used in a hurricane area where it’s more highly needed.

Price gouging gets said and then repeated by tools.  It just means prices are higher than one agrees with.  It’s an emotive term.  Prices have a purpose.  Messing with the system through price decrease will cause misallocation.  Particularly, someone is pushing price controls if they say this.  What they are really asking for is a shortage.  You are a pawn in their games any time this gets repeated.
