Really Voluntary?

Freedom is to oppose all aggressions against private property.  Many support this in theory, but reality is quite different.  Just because rulers are selected by a popularity contest doesn’t mean it’s voluntary.  What if you voted for another candidate?  What if you disagree with all?  What about the people who don’t agree with the candidate on every issue?  You get a package deal even if the candidate you voted for wins.  It’s not even voluntary with a vote.

Nobody is above the law.  There are two types of law: public and private.  There are certain acts if committed by an individual beholden to private law is a crime, but an act committed by another individual beholden to public law is not a crime.  The state can take a portion of the person’s income.  That is considered legitimate and referred to as taxation.  That would be robbery if a private person did that.

It’s not a voluntary payment when the state takes money.  Just like it’s not voluntary if a criminal takes money.  It’s less severe when you get robbed.  The robber doesn’t follow you and rob you every week.  He doesn’t lie to you and tell you it’s good for you.   He’s not foolish enough to do that.   He takes your money and leaves.  The state takes your money in perpetuity.  Then, they lie to you and tell you it’s good for you.

Is it really voluntary that counterfeiting happens on a massive scale?  This is worse than taxation.  At least the masses can see a portion of their paycheck taken away.  They can’t see the money dwindling in value.  This is an easy source of revenue.  There would be a revolt if they were aware.   Keynes was right “By this means government may secretly and unobserved, confiscate the wealth of the people, and not one man in a million will detect the theft.”

A crime is a crime.  It doesn’t matter if it’s committed by one man or an organization.  It’s not voluntary even if the organization’s leader won a popularity contest.  It doesn’t matter how many people vote for a particular candidate.  There will always be some who don’t agree.  The actions taken can’t be voluntary.  They would already have been taken, or will be taken, if the masses wanted them.  Voting is mob rule and not even voluntary for the mob.
